Our practical services aim to reduce the stress associated with various life challenges. We offer a welcoming drop-in service where individuals can receive personalised advice and assistance with tasks such as reading or writing letters, filling out forms (e.g. applications for Universal Credit, PIP, DLA, driver’s licenses, bus passes, job applications, and housing forms), and accessing computers and the internet.
We also assist with advocacy, mediation, and representation in complex matters involving medical assessments, GP appointments, hospitals, social services, the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), utility bills, debt agencies, local councils, and solicitors. Our goal is to help clients navigate these systems confidently, providing resources and direction for those who need it most.
We provide guidance and support for job seekers, including advice on where and how to search for employment, creating and updating CVs, etc. We also assist clients with fulfilling their Universal Credit journal requirements, ensuring they meet their job search obligations and avoid DWP sanctions. This service enhances skills, promotes independence, and empowers clients to pursue job opportunities, ultimately improving their life chances.
At Fightback Charity, our independent food bank offers essential weekly food parcels to anyone in need, ensuring that individuals and families have reliable access to nutritious food during difficult times.
In addition to food support, we provide essential hygiene products every three weeks, helping to enhance individuals’ self-esteem and sense of well-being. Access to these hygiene basics not only promotes physical health but also boosts confidence and dignity, empowering people to engage more comfortably in social, educational, and work environments. Hygiene poverty can lead to social isolation and health issues, and we’re committed to breaking that cycle by providing these critical supplies.
Fightback also provides weekly, coffee mornings, a befriending service, drop-in service and a chat club where people can come together, access support, help, meet people, share experiences and enjoy a range of free refreshments, These are all designed to reduce social isolation, promote mental health wellbeing, social inclusion and community cohesion.
Fightback offers valuable volunteering opportunities for those seeking to gain a variety of transferable skills. These experiences can help volunteers secure paid employment, develop new competencies, and build confidence, all while giving back to their community.
Our Tabletop Day is a community-driven initiative where we receive donations of pre-loved items and redistribute them, free of charge, to anyone in need. This event not only provides practical help but also fosters a sense of community, allowing people to support each other during challenging times.
